While the Black Forest cake is attractive to the eye and graciously melts on the palate, we think very less of its intricate ingredients, except for our general knowledge that it is chocolate laden.
We never even try to imagine what goes into the making of chocolate, or how the cake itself was honored with the name Black Forest. The Black Forest cake is an attractive piece of edible art, often proudly displayed in coffee shops counters and display cabinets to attract clients.
However the name Black Forest could also conjure many images and meanings in the minds of the society. From a Black Forest, one could expect anything to emerge, either an unknown horrible animal, or still a fairy tale buried deep inside the entrails of the seemingly impenetrable forest.
One’s intention to bake the Black Forest and share it with the clientele, or even passer-byes of the Coffee Shop, is to peel the Black Forest layer by layer and reconstruct it grain by grain, to ensure that it is healthy for human consumption and makes for a merry company.
Therefore, one’s focus in the Coffee Shop, would be on an unemotional analysis of the state, whether it is transformed, transforming or rains untransformed leading to its failure to fundamentally change the lives of the citizens.
One holds that for a society to move forward, the state must be central. However it would also be of critical importance to evaluate the leadership of the state, it’s dynamism, political will, courage and intellectual capacity to transform the state.
Finally there would be a need to conclude whether the current state and society leadership, possess the necessary requisites to make the required leap, fundamentally transform the state and take the society forward to the promise of a prosperous, poverty free future for all the citizens of our country.
